Sustainability
At SILFEN, sustainability means taking responsibility. We act with consideration for all stakeholders and strive to raise our standards with every collection we create. Our dedication to functional design includes the use of recycled materials whenever possible. Below are our four key focus areas within sustainability:
Individuals: People are essential to our business. We consciously collaborate with suppliers who share our social and environmental values and uphold high labor standards. Our goal is to promote ethical and socially responsible practices and ensure fair working conditions throughout our entire value chain.
Circularity: We focus on extending the lifespan of products and making conscious choices in our production process. This includes experimenting with circular materials and methods to minimize our environmental footprint. Currently, we use rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) for our nylon bags. We are constantly exploring other recycled and durable materials to improve our products and reduce environmental impact.
Design: Design is at the core of our business. We create thoughtfully curated products that are tested for durability and functionality. Our bags are designed to be versatile and adaptable to different uses and occasions. For example, many of our bags include an extra strap to enhance versatility and extend their lifespan.
Leather: Our leather products are made from genuine leather sourced as a by-product of the food industry. This means the animals are not raised solely for their hides; instead, we utilize surplus materials from meat production that would otherwise go to waste. By using these by-products, we help maximize resource efficiency and reduce waste.
